GPS relies on a significant number of satellites, which need regular maintenance, as well as service and management from terrestrial base stations. GPS, like all other GNSS systems, also is vulnerable to hostile signal interruption and manipulation as well as to solar or space radiation events.

Rogue actors manipulate the GPS signals as you read these words. GPS can be turned off or manipulated, or even hacked.  However, our military, our society, our economy is heavily dependent on GPS. This substantial reliance on a single and highly vulnerable system to provide military and civil power, peace, prosperity, and economic development, carries equally substantial and obvious risks of manipulation and service interruption. Our unique and exclusive reliance on GPS is a very risky bet.
